POLISTR Developing innovative methods for cultivating algae

The aim of POLISTR is to develop new, pioneering methods of algaculture production based on non-managed species to offer commercial fish farming ways of diversifying and to contribute to the establishment and development of the algaculture industry.

POLISTR will also be a demonstrator for algaculture and co-culture.

In addition, the project will work on the economic dimension of production cycles, investments and markets to provide industry professionals with decision-making tools.

The POLISTR project fits within the context of an emerging algae industry and responds to the direction of travel of national and regional public policy aimed at promoting blue growth.  

As the basis of numerous biotechnology innovations, algae may also be seen as a starting-point for future growth.
