FLOAWER Collective European scientific research project for mature floating wind farms

Labelisation : 06/28/2019 - 00:00
Budget global : 3 500.00 K€

The FLOAting Wind Energy networRk (FLOAWER) is a joint European training and scientific research project which aims to reduce costs in, and de-risk, the floating wind turbine sector.

It will connect 13 early stage researchers (ESRs) with a network of high-level academic experts (involved in both teaching and research), as well as granting them priority access to pioneering industry figures in the sector, so they can finalise their research.

These 13 research projects will address specific issues which have been identified as current obstacles to maturity in systems associated with a floating wind farm.

The projects will cross-fertilise one another to provide synergy and can be grouped under four headings: wind resource assessment for deep waters, system design to reduce the levelised cost of energy (LCOE), advanced floater analysis, and the dynamics of wind turbines.

Links will be created between the separate projects, both to stimulate collaboration between the ESRs and to ensure their research work closely reflects the reality in industry.
