EPENON An electronic telltale to optimise airflow on a wind turbine blade
The telltale on a yacht is a piece of yarn or a ribbon of light fabric attached to the sails or shrouds to provide a visual indicator of wind direction and the flow of air currents over the sail.
As part of MRE development, wind turbines need to be able to fully exploit the wind available for optimal electricity production. Adjusting the angle of incidence of the blades is an essential factor in optimising their output.
The EPENON project therefore aims to develop an electronic telltale as a unique, real-time tool for diagnosing the quality of airflow over wind turbine blades.
The EPENON project is recognised jointly by the clusters Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique and Pôle S2E2.
