DREZTOP A connected seine net offering a new technique for sustainable fishing

Labelisation : 04/24/2017 - 00:00
Budget global : 3 681.00 K€

Seine nets have been used in commercial fishing since the middle of last century, particularly for tuna fishing. This type of fishing gear has developed and improved through experimentation. However, the materials used in seine nets have never been closely analysed, nor has the stress they suffer ever been characterised.

The DREZTOP project’s aim is to design a sustainable, connected seine net that meets the specific demands of selective tuna fishing among free schools of fish. This pioneering innovation will go hand in hand with the regulatory developments designed to make fishing sustainable.

The new sustainable, connected seine net will allow development of international markets and, at the same time, targeting of a more diverse range of new markets – pelagic trawlers, aquaculture and undersea protective nets.

The DREZTOP project is also officially recognised by the Pôle Mer Méditerranée cluster.
