Présentation
About us
Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique is a competitiveness cluster for the blue economy. We bring together a community of over 450 members, including start-ups, SMEs and mid-market companies, as well as large corporations, R&D companies, research consultancies and professional organisations.
We support innovation in the maritime sector through the pioneering research and development projects of our members. We focus in particular on building connections between stakeholders in the academic and business spheres. These projects lead to the development and enhancement of products and services to grow a sustainable and responsible blue economy.
Our region
Our mission is first and foremost to provide support for innovation in two French regions very closely associated with the sea – Brittany and Pays de la Loire. This is also a leading employment area for France, accounting for almost 50% of direct jobs in the blue economy.
Our commitment to openness and outreach
With over 20% of our members coming from outside these two regions and boosted by our close collaboration with Pôle Mer Méditerranée, we also support companies’ competitiveness nationally and Europe-wide. We are helping to drive the development of the maritime sector through our active involvement in the Strategic Committee for the Maritime Industries. This is integral to the coordination of the maritime sector led by Corimer, a body promoting partnerships between research, innovation and industry. We are also committed to promoting the European dimension for our organisation and our members, with active participation in European projects (such as Horizon Europe and INTERREG), institutions (including DG-MARE and CINEA) and programmes (such as Copernicus).
Our goals
Looking towards 2026, we intend to support our members and the blue economy by:
- maintaining our reputation for championing innovation at the regional, national, European and global level
- promoting and raising awareness of excellence among our stakeholders and in our region
- contributing to a sustainable, responsible and outstanding blue economy
- facilitating skills development in our region to meet the emerging needs of industry
