OPHARM
Marine hydrogen production: analysis and roadmap
The aim of the OPHARM project is to produce a roadmap and decision-making tools for future stakeholders in the marine renewable hydrogen market, with a focus on wind farms.
To date, hydrogen production has mainly been developed on land. However, the technology is transferrable to marine renewable energy, although particular attention must be paid to the constraints imposed by the marine environment. As wind farms move further offshore, the costs associated with power cables increase. In this context, offshore hydrogen production could be a competitive option.
