PROJECT SUMMARY
The project aims to develop new sustainable, profitable and resilient value chains for Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA).
ObjecTIVEs
The specific objectives of the project are as follows:
- Develop and validate 4 AMTI case studies (Ireland, Scotland, South Africa and Brazil).
- Provide a catalog of "species for the future", listing their resilience, profitability, sustainability and nutritional value.
- Increase circularity by 50-60% compared with monoculture, and determine the best configuration for achieving zero waste.
CLUSTER'S ROLE
The Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique is responsible for the "IMTA socio-economics, business models and Profitability" work package, which aims to reference best practices in the sector and set up a business plan for the installation of new AMTI labs.
The ASTRAL project is of particular interest to members of the "Marine Biological Resources" Domain, with opportunities for networking with European companies.
