Sérénité A safer, cleaner, more economical coastal fishing vessel

Labelisation : 05/24/2013 - 00:00
Budget global : 1.41 K€

The SERENITE project involves building a demonstrator coastal fishing boat of under 12 metres with the aim of of launching an innovative, flexible vessel on the market by 2015, which will provide ship owners with a safer, more economical and environmentally sound equipment than is provided by the existing fishing fleet.

The innovations relate to the boat's architecture, the use of organically sourced materials and the inclusion of a hybrid diesel/electric engine.
The ship's architecture will bring significant innovations in terms of profitability, safety and comfort. The bridge will offer 360° visibility by reducing vertical dead angles to the front, sides and rear of the ship. Living space located on deck and isolated from the engine and tanks will have room for the crew to stand upright. The way variable volumes - fish tanks, ponds and holds - are distributed on board will ensure the vessel's stability whatever the cargo. The inverted bow design will improve the hull's hydrodynamic performance and flotation.

The first fishing boat is expected to be launched on the market in 2015 and the results of R&D will be published.
